FC Barcelona Handbol: Big Win at La Catedral
Full steam ahead in the league for the blaugranes as the Navarrans are defeated
FC Barcelona Handbol continued their impressive form in the league with a resounding 37-16 victory away at Blendio Sinfín on Saturday. The win keeps the blaugranes top of the table, two points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid, and sets up a potential title decider between the two sides in the final game of the season.
Carlos Ortega's team were in dominant form from the start, racing into a 10-goal lead by half-time. The Navarrans briefly threatened a comeback in the second half, but Barcelona quickly extinguished any hopes of a fightback.
Dika Mem was the star of the show for Barcelona, scoring nine goals, while Ludovic Fabregas and Aleix Gómez added six and five respectively. Blendio Sinfín were led by Aitor García, who scored seven goals.
Important warm-up for bigger battles
The win was an important warm-up for Barcelona ahead of their upcoming Champions League semi-final against PSG Handball. Ortega's team will be looking to reach their first Champions League final since 2018.
Barcelona will also be looking to win their first league title since 2019. They are currently two points clear of Real Madrid, who have a game in hand. The two sides will meet in the final game of the season on June 12.
