Despite a late rally, the Houston Dynamo upset Inter Miami 2-1 in the US Open Cup on Wednesday night.

The Dynamo took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Sebastian Ferreira. Inter Miami equalized in the second half through Leonardo Campana, but Houston regained the lead just minutes later through Fafa Picault.

Inter Miami, who were without injured star Lionel Messi, pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but were unable to find a way through.

The victory is a major upset for the Dynamo, who are currently bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Inter Miami, meanwhile, will be disappointed to have been knocked out of the US Open Cup at the quarter-final stage.
