Liga 2: Tondela-Felgueiras Will Play at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra
Pitch Ban at Estádio João Cardoso
The Liga Portugal 2 match between Tondela and Felgueiras, scheduled for August 21, will be played at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, not the Estádio João Cardoso as originally planned.
The decision was made due to a pitch ban imposed on the Estádio João Cardoso by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) following a recent inspection. The FPF deemed the pitch to be in an unsatisfactory condition and thus unfit for competitive matches.
Alternative Venue
The Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, which is located approximately 20 kilometers from the Estádio João Cardoso, will serve as the alternative venue for the Tondela-Felgueiras match. The stadium has a capacity of 29,622 and has previously hosted several top-flight matches, including the 2013 Taça da Liga final.
Tondela, who are the current Liga 2 champions, will be hoping to make a strong start to their title defense, while Felgueiras will be aiming to secure promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2006.
