Old Napoli teammates Osimhen and Mertens reunited in Turkey – pictures
Former Napoli teammates Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens were reunited in Turkey on Tuesday as the Super Eagles striker visited his former strike partner.
Osimhen, who is currently on international duty with Nigeria, took to social media to share pictures of the meeting, which took place in Istanbul.
The two players spent two seasons together at Napoli, forming a formidable partnership that helped the club win the Coppa Italia in 2020.
Mertens left Napoli in the summer of 2022 after his contract expired, and he has since joined Galatasaray in Turkey.
Osimhen has been in impressive form for Napoli this season, scoring 10 goals in 14 Serie A appearances.
The Nigerian forward is currently valued at €100 million by Transfermarkt, making him one of the most valuable players in the world.
Mertens has also been in good form for Galatasaray, scoring 9 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions.
The Belgian forward is still a key player for his country, and he is expected to be part of the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The reunion of Osimhen and Mertens in Turkey is a reminder of the close bond that the two players share.
They are both talented forwards who have enjoyed successful careers at club and international level.
It is great to see them reunited, and it will be interesting to see if they can recreate their partnership at Galatasaray.
