A mid-air collision between a small plane and a helicopter in the Lake Tahoe area killed five people Saturday, the second fatal crash at the airport in a month. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

The collision occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday near the Truckee Tahoe Airport in Truckee, California. The airport is located about 10 miles north of Lake Tahoe.

According to the FAA, the small plane was a single-engine Cessna 172. The helicopter was a Robinson R44.

No survivors

There were no survivors from either aircraft. The victims' names have not yet been released.

The crash is the second fatal accident at the Truckee Tahoe Airport in a month. On July 19, a pilot was killed when his small plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

The NTSB is investigating both crashes.
